Analytics, part 2 — Resizing
In 2025, Cool Maze - Push to Computer has been used on 1176 distinct models of smartphones and tablets.
The top 12 Android models and the top 12 iOS models account for 52% of the actions “Share a 3MB resized photo”.
We can compare their performance on the specific task of resizing the 3MB photo. As explained in ealier article, taking a few hundred milliseconds to downscale the image is saving several seconds on the subsequent upload and download steps.

We don’t compare directly the resize latencies of iOS vs. Android, because the algorithm is not the same and resized images in iOS tend to be larger.
Using a high-end mobile device does improve the performance of the resize step, but the performance of cheaper devices remains very acceptable.
